Social media apps blocked in Pakistan for 4 hours

Social Media Apps Blocked

Today on the 16th of April in Pakistan social media apps such as  Twitter, Telegram, Whatsapp, Facebook  and Youtube were blocked by PTA from 11 am to 3 pm. PTA posted on their official Twitter account that blocking of these were to maintain public order .

Press Release: In order to maintain public order and safety, access to certain social media applications has been restricted temporarily.

  The hashtag #Socialmediabaninpakistan kept on trending on Twitter for 5 hours. 

   

Altough the blocking didn't cause much disruption as people started using VPN to access social media platforms.
